Direct buses from Prague take about three hours, and from Ceske Budejovice around 45 minutes.

Day trippers arrive from 10am to 4pm. Staying one night gives you the town almost to yourself.

Castle interiors are guided tours only, on fixed timings. The tower and grounds can be visited independently.

Canoe and raft trips run the river through town from spring to early autumn and are the local summer activity.

Cars are kept out of the old town. Use the paid lots on the edge and walk in.
