Airport buses reach the centre in 25 to 40 minutes. There is no rail link from the airport.

A Leap card is cheaper than cash fares on buses, Luas and DART, and caps what you spend in a day.

The Book of Kells and Long Room at Trinity need timed tickets, and the early slots are the quiet ones.

The DART coastal train reaches Howth or Bray in 30 minutes for a cliff walk and seafood lunch.

## Local knowledge

Contributed by guides, operators and creators on the ground. Community advice, kept separate from official sources.

Drink outside Temple Bar

Walk 10 minutes to the Liberties or Stoneybatter and the same pint costs a couple of euro less with better music.

Local guide Sean Brady

Take the DART to Howth for lunch

Thirty minutes from the city centre gets you a cliff loop walk and fresh seafood on the pier. Best value half day in Dublin.
