The English Market is the best food hall in the country and open Monday to Saturday. Lunch upstairs at the Farmgate.

Blarney Castle is 20 minutes out on a regular city bus, so you do not need a tour to get there.

Kinsale, Cobh and the Old Head are all inside an hour and make the best day out from the city.

Trains from Dublin take about two and a half hours to Kent Station, a short walk from the centre.

Eat lunch above the English Market

The balcony restaurant cooks what the stalls below are selling that morning. Go before 1pm or queue with everyone who works nearby.

## Frequently asked questions

Direct trains from Dublin take about two and a half hours, and Cork airport has European and UK connections 15 minutes from the centre.

Two days: one for the city and English Market, one for Kinsale, Cobh or Blarney.

The gardens and grounds are excellent. The stone itself involves a long queue, so go at opening if you want it.

Buttered eggs and spiced beef from the English Market, seafood in Kinsale, and Cork's own stouts.
