Local buses radiate from Fira. Getting between two villages usually means changing there.
Oia sunset draws thousands. The castle viewpoint fills 90 minutes early, and Imerovigli gives the same view with room to stand.
Cruise days put several thousand extra people in Fira and Oia. Check the port schedule and plan a beach or winery day instead.
Most tap water is desalinated. Locals drink bottled and so should you.
The caldera path from Fira to Oia takes about three hours. Walk it early, carry water and wear real shoes.
