Tram line A reaches the airport, and Paris is 2 hours away by TGV from Bordeaux Saint-Jean.

Saint-Emilion is 35 minutes by train, and the station is a 20-minute walk from the village.

The Miroir d'Eau opposite Place de la Bourse runs in cycles through the day and is best photographed at dusk.

La Cite du Vin is worth the ticket, and it includes a glass on the top-floor belvedere.

The city is flat and compact. A bike or the tram covers everything, no car needed until you head to the Medoc.
